SMALL CLAIMS
Small Claims matters are lawsuits where the Plaintiff is seeking money damages in an amount not to exceed $3,000.00. To file a small claims matter in the Ramapo Justice Court, the Defendant must reside or have a place of business within the Town of Ramapo. To file, you must complete the SMALL CLAIMS FILING FORM. This form can be filed at the Court window between 9am and 4pm on any non-holiday business day. You may download and complete the form prior to coming to the Court window to save time. Filing fees are due at the time of filing. The form is available at the Court window if you’d prefer to fill it out in person.
Small Claims Filing Fees*:
$10.00 for claims up to $1,000.00
$15.00 for claims between $1,001.00 and $3,000.00
*Payment methods accepted: Cash; money order; bank/certified check; Visa & Mastercard. A 3% service fee applies to all credit card transactions. No personal/business checks.

PAYMENTS IN PERSON:
In person payments can be made at the Court window between the hours of 9am and 4:30pm on any non-holiday business day. Only cash, money orders, certified/bank checks, Visa and Mastercard are accepted at the Court window. Credit card payments are subject to a 2.99% service fee.

Payments by phone may be made 24 hours a day by using credit or debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover.) Please call 1-888-604-7888 to pay by phone. Service and processing fees apply. Please note, telephone payments cannot be made by calling the Justice Court directly.
